You could just look at your GP electronic health record when you feel like it. However remember most people do not think they need to look at their GP records thinking why should they since they are notes written by somebody else.
However, people cannot remember details about their record and as time goes by, those details can often be forgotten.
Why should you view your GP electronic health record?
Reading your electronic health record helps you to understand what your doctor or nurse think, see your own tests results, letters and consultations, reminds you about has happened in the past, when you had scans and other tests done, what treatments you tried in the past, what worked, what did not, how certain conditions may have developed for you and how things develop. If you can view the record, you can also take this with you and share it with whom you like wherever you may be in the world so long as you have access to the internet
When should you view your GP electronic health record?
We recommend
- Get into a good habit to check your record as often as you feel you can at least once a year but also perhaps when you
- order your prescriptions,
- want to book an appointment
- plan to visit another healthcare establishment
